• The doctor leads them to a private room where he immediately examines the children and realises they need immediate attention. Although they've regained some warmth, they still show signs of not having fully recovered from hypothermia.
• "Isabella, the children need to be admitted," he says, looking at Marta, who grimaces. "It's not on a whim, nor do I want to keep them here in hospital for the sake of it, but as you can see, their lips are still slightly blue, as are their fingernails and toenails."
