- We were seated opposite each other, and it was apparent that David still harboured doubts about me, in spite of the numerous proofs I'd furnished. He scrutinised me intently as though attempting to decipher my thoughts. With a smile, I endeavoured to put him at ease and win his confidence.
- "Could we draw up a contract?" inquired David once more.
