• "Fine," Ethan replied after studying Nathalie for a while. He probably understood exactly why she was so insistent on the matter. Ethan was perceptive and had a knack for seeing through her. "I'll tell you. Let's move over to the couch, okay? Sitting here at the table, just staring at each other, feels a bit too formal."
• "Formal?" Nathalie laughed, picking up both of their mugs and heading to the couch. "I'm in pajama shorts and an old shirt, and you're only in jeans. We're both barefoot, for crying out loud. How is this formal?"
• "Are you going to keep teasing me, or do you want me to tell you about Elise?" Ethan asked.
