Chapter 29
- Just as Nathalie was about to respond to him, Trixie's compact pink car pulled up in front of her apartment. She emerged from the vehicle, looking utterly shocked. Both Ethan and Nathalie quickly stepped away from each other, but the moment had already passed. Trixie's gaze swept over the two of them, and her jaw tightened with concern.
- "Did you do this to her?" she demanded, gesturing angrily toward Nathalie's face as she directed her ire at Ethan. "What on earth are you doing at her apartment at night? Shouldn't you be at home with your child?"
- "No, no, Trixie, it wasn't him." Nathalie couldn't believe she had found herself in this predicament. "Don't you dare give me that ridiculous excuse about falling again," Trixie shot back, her eyes blazing with intensity. "Someone hit you. Was it him?" She pointed firmly at Ethan once more. "God knows he's done it before."
