Chapter 23

• The weekend unexpectedly improves, thanks primarily to Shon. Nathalie finds herself opening up to him about the past two months, and he listens attentively, demonstrating a skill in listening she hadn't experienced with him before. As she pours out her thoughts and feelings, Shon simply nods and gently rubs her back, providing silent support until she finishes.
• When he finally speaks, it's with understanding and without judgment. "It sounds like you didn't quite achieve the fresh start you were aiming for," Shon reflects thoughtfully. "You've obviously moved on from Daniel and are excelling at your job, but it seems like you've slipped back into an old pattern with this Ethan guy."
• "Old pattern?" Nathalie echoes, unsure of his meaning. "I can assure you, I've never dated a 41-year-old single dad before."
