• "Over ten years ago," he yelled back, making her laugh. She wasn't surprised, considering he was 41, and Rosie was seven. He had told her about his wild twenties but settled down with Elise in his early thirties and got a full-time job, so it made sense that he hadn't been to a party like this in a long while.
• To Nathalie's surprise, they lingered for two more hours with Shina and Shon, as Ethan drank even more than she did, accepting each drink Shon handed him and downing it quickly. Though Nathalie mostly stuck to water and soda, Ethan danced alongside her throughout much of the night, and they even stole some kisses in the corner.
• She found his presence delightfully unexpected, enjoying every moment. Finally, exhausted and eager for some private time together, Nathalie hailed an Uber. Though Ethan seemed capable of partying longer, he didn't argue when she led them to the car.
