Chapter 74 Reconciliation?
- I left that room very angry, going down the stairs until I reached the entrance of the clinic. When I went out to the street, I felt my husband's hand grabbing my arm tightly, dragging me with him. I tried to break free from his grip and yelled at him, but all I achieved was when we reached the car, he opened the door and made me sit inside, fastening my seatbelt with a lot of anger. While he walked around the car to sit in the driver's seat, I tried to be faster than him and unbuckle my seatbelt to get out of his car. But he quickly sat down in the driver's seat, started the car engine, and drove away, making me hear the screeching of the wheels as we left. When we arrived home, I took off the damn seatbelt, opened the car door, got out, and ran towards the entrance of the house, ready to go to my bedroom. But the voice of my little one made me stop suddenly at the living room door, seeing how my daughter ran towards where her father and I were, with Mark picking her up in his arms.
- " Sofia, come here " Cintia said, moving her fingers for me to come with her and my husband into the living room.
- When I entered the living room, my daughter made me sit on the floor to play with her and her stuffed animals. Although Mark had his gaze fixed on me, I didn't want to look at him, feeling like tears wanted to fall down my cheeks. But I knew that in front of my daughter, I couldn't do it. I didn't want her to see me sad. After dinner in silence, I picked up my little one and went upstairs with her to her bedroom. I bathed her while Mark leaned against the door frame watching us. When I finished bathing my daughter, Mark picked her up in his arms, covering her small body with a towel, and we all went back to the bedroom to put on her pajamas. After tucking her into bed, I sat next to her to read her a story, with Mark sitting next to me on the armchair that my daughter had in her room. I could feel my husband's fingers caressing my neck, making my skin tingle with the soft touch of his warm fingers. When Cintia fell asleep, I left the book on the shelf while her father tucked her in and gave her two kisses on her soft cheeks before walking to the door. As if waiting for me, I approached my daughter's bed after leaving the book, gave her two kisses as well, stroking her soft hair while tears fell down my cheeks. I turned off the little lamp on her bedside table and left the room. But as I was about to leave, Mark gently took my arm, and we stood there looking at each other in silence. I let go of his grip and walked towards my bedroom, followed by my husband. I opened the closet to take out one of the suitcases because I planned to leave that same night. I couldn't bear the idea of every time I crossed paths with that woman, Mark seemed not to realize that what Melisa was trying to do was to separate him and me, and he always silenced her intentions.
