Chapter 44 He Told Me He Loves Me
- When I arrived at the table where my husband and his partners were, Mark immediately stood up from his chair to pull out my chair for me to sit, as Melissa approached us with her sarcastic smile. Mark sat down, placing his fingers under my chin to make me look at him, bringing his lips close to mine for a few seconds. Although I didn't want to see the satisfaction in that woman's smile, I stayed for a moment thinking about some of her words, wondering if it was true that I was just a toy for Mark and if he had resumed his relationship with her.
- I feared that the novelty had worn off for Mark, as all I had left was to receive my husband at night, take care of our daughter, and let him make love to me whenever and however he wanted. I felt humiliated and frustrated, realizing how futile my efforts to win over my husband were. When dinner was over, Mark said goodbye to all his partners and we left the hotel together, heading towards the street where the valet had already left Mark's car at the hotel's entrance. The whole journey back home was in silence, neither of us had anything to say. When we arrived, Mark parked the car, we got out and entered the house, making our way to the living room. Mark poured himself a glass of whisky from the cabinet, and I sat on the sofa.
- "Are you going to keep quiet?" Mark asked me.
