Chapter 113 Surprise At My Daughter's Birthday
- After that night when my husband got drunk and vomited in our bathroom, hitting his head and causing a deep wound that took a while to stop bleeding, our lives changed a lot. Mark was spending more time at home, we went out to dinner just the two of us, taking long walks in New York afterwards, embracing each other, making love in bed with desire and passion. My life changed when I fell ill with a strong cold and couldn't breastfeed my son anymore due to the high fever and medication prescribed by our doctor. I had to switch to bottle feeding, which actually gave me a bit more free time once I recovered, as I started working at the law firm, managing my schedule to balance work, my husband, and my children. On the day our little girl turned four, Mark and I took a few days off to prepare our daughter Cintia's birthday party.
- Together with Violeta, we set up the garden with balloons, a ball pit, inflatable mats for the little kids attending the party, all her classmates from the daycare were invited, and the catering took care of the snacks and more. Our daughter was thrilled about her big birthday party, making us laugh when she tried to blow up a balloon, turning so red that she looked more like a tomato about to burst than a little girl. My life took a big turn, as we were now a true family, forgetting about the contract. One night, while Mark and I were cuddled up in front of the fireplace, drinking champagne, he suddenly got up and returned with the contract we had signed. He tore it into pieces and threw it into the fire, watching our past burn away, because that's what it was, our past. Our present was too wonderful, so we toasted with our champagne glasses to our future, making love in front of that fireplace afterwards.
- On our daughter Cintia's birthday, we dressed her in a beautiful princess dress, while our son Junior wore a prince suit. Mark took endless photos of our children until our son started crying and our daughter left the house for the garden, tired of so many pictures. It was our first birthday celebration with our children, and my husband spared no expense of any kind.
