Chapter 83

• Megan's POV
• As the night dragged on, the moon became brighter, and the water gradually returned to the state it had been in before to the change. Because our movements grew more deliberate, our hands were able to achieve previously unachievable heights and depths. They hadn't arrived at all of the destinations, but owing to the one goal that we all had, we had made significant progress. I could feel him becoming bigger below me, and as I did so, the fire in my gut became more fierce.
• Jason withdrew while saying, "We have to stop," and his hands followed his lead. While one hand pushed forward to hold me back, the other had a solid grip on something in the water, and the knuckles were white and pallid.
