Chapter 17
- Megan's POV
- The snow melted as Winter gave way to Spring, and the frozen Earth thawed. I spent an increasing amount of time inside in the days leading up to the season change. Either Blaire Jackson and I were watching movies in the living room, or I was enjoying the soothing stillness in my room. When everyone was gone and when Alpha was in his office or heading to Alpha Ryland's pack, I spent extra time exploring the pack home. They were beginning to get closer to our region as their renegade issue became worse. Although they hadn't harmed anybody yet, they were starting to worry people and chased all the prey away.
- When I heard faint footsteps and a whimper at my door, I was considering remaining or leaving my safe refuge. When I opened it, I was greeted by a little child with blonde hair and large, tear-filled blue eyes. Her age might be more than five or six. Her nose was rubbed red, and her cheeks were smudged with tears. She was so much like me when I was younger. I knelt and pulled her hair behind her ear so I was at eye level with her.
