Chapter 65
- Jason's POV
- In order to finally be able to embrace her in my arms and bring her as near as I want, I put the bulky book on the ground. And Jackson shook his head in appreciation and exited the room, leaving Megan and me alone. My heart squeezed with each sob that escaped her lips, resentful of her melancholy and distressed condition. My darling, be quiet. Shhhh." In an effort to calm her, I stroked my hands through her hair and down her back. But you, I saw you, and you were already gone. She gasped out a few words in between crying, and as I did, my own tears joined hers on her cheeks. Even after death, I continued to mourn her, feeling a void in my heart that needed to be filled. "I know. I was and I knew. She tightened her grip on me as her sobs started to rock her body. I couldn't even care less as her fingers and nails tore mercilessly into my flesh and shoulder. I softly grabbed her face and tilted back till we were looking at one other. "I have life. I swear. I'm with you right now, and I won't be going anywhere. My tears were covered up by her little fingers gliding over my cheeks. I saw how red her eyes were when my own fingers went over the shadows under her eyes. They still had that sorrowful, completely shattered expression in their eyes that brought back my tears. She shouted, "But how?" I caught you! You had vanished. "I-I'm not exactly sure how," she said. I gave it some thought. The world was silent and white. In my whole life, I've never felt more alone. I confessed, giving her forehead a long kiss. "A voice began speaking to me. Since I had trouble hearing her, I first believed it was you. I believed that you were speaking to me when I was unconscious. With my face resting on the top of her head, I whispered while running my fingers through her hair."She said I had a decision to make. She said that because of the purity of my soul, I had the option of staying with her, where I would never experience pain again, or return to this place. I took her hand and put it over my heart to show her that I was still thinking about her. "I knew she was mistaken, despite her assurances that I wouldn't experience any pain. I lost the ability to sense you. Even though we lived in different worlds, I couldn't help but miss you. She bent down and kissed my heart, which caused me to grin and bring her closer. "I pleaded with her to let me return. She then began murmuring strange things after that. She said that your father was still alive and that you had been taken. I was about to ask her what she was talking about since I had no clue what she was talking about, but she persisted. We have an enemy. With artificial hair, a traitor. "Lucy. Lucy must be the culprit. I shook my head and added, "I thought that too. However, it isn't. "How else could she not be it? She has been attempting to reach you ever since I arrived. "The traitor's mate was the reason why all of this happened. She complied with his request to do everything for her partner. He employed her.I'm still baffled as to why Lucy can't be it.Lucy is not able to find love. She is not bound by fate. Why do you say that? Every werewolf has a partner."Megan, Lucy's not like the rest of us. She's had a rough life, not as terrible as yours. I picked her up by her legs and placed her on top of my desk. She has a human half and a half wolf. An embarrassment to werewolves, wolves and an oddity in the eyes of people. Her mother had her after a one-night stand. A few kilometers away, her mother abandoned her in the woods after learning who she was."That's awful." I nodded in agreement as she gaped in disbelief."My parents took her in out of compassion. She stayed with me for the first several months since I was the only child who treated her well. She is thus not specifically envious of you; rather, she is envious of our relationship. After that, "Who is the traitor?"I fessed up, "I don't know," and backed away. But I do know how to handle the problems with your family, you see. I picked up the book I previously left on the floor and walked it over to the desk to give it to her."What's this?" She muttered as she gently opened the worn-out book, whose spine seemed to be about to split. "It's the police report. Every crime committed by a werewolf has been documented. So why didn't it appear at your office?I took it from her and murmured, "Because," leafing over the tattered pages. "Anyone may get strength from this book. This may be used to blackmail anybody if someone manages to get their hands on it. We keep them secret and out of sight.Everyone would already be aware of the atrocities if they were recorded, right? That implies that someone has to be aware of them."No, this book, and probably half the volumes in this room, have that flaw. It is magical. They are always keeping up with the most recent news on crimes, births, deaths, and everything else. Unknown criminals may get away with committing certain acts. Who did it and what transpired are both known in this book. These books are often used by alphas before inviting strangers to join packs. But how would it assist me with my father, you ask? He is gone."Because she claimed you were stolen, which is against the law," I replied."I'm still not sure what you're getting at," she said. I kept turning the pages while she peered at me through her lashes.I paused what I was doing and addressed her as "my love." "I believe your family was taken from you."
