Chapter 32

• Jason's POV
• I moaned and moved over on the bed, reaching out to draw the cover towards me as I anticipated being welcomed by a warm body. Instead, I was confronted by a chilly, empty sheet. I got up groggily and wiped my eyes. What did she do there? She was close by because, when I inhaled deeply, her perfume was strong. As our smells mingled, my wolf purred, declaring that this was our lair and our home.
• The movie had already ended, and the TV screen was blank. My body shook as I got out of bed due to the temperature differences between the warm bed and the frigid surroundings. I scanned the space for my companion while my eyes were already used to the darkness. I sighed as I surveyed her curled-up shape in the same bedside table corner where I had previously discovered her. My whole chest hurt, radiating pain from my heart. I felt terrible seeing her deny herself such basic comforts as food and a bed. Everything she has ever needed or wanted is hers to have, but now that she has it, she punishes herself for not utilizing it.
