Chapter 41

  • Megan's POV
  • The wind was blowing through the trees, softly swaying them throughout the strangely silent night. As we marched into the woodland, the melting snow muffled our footsteps nearly to silence. My skin broke out in goosebumps as I waited in anticipation. My knuckles cracked as I gripped my fists at my sides to stop them from shaking. The sound was startling on the otherwise peaceful night since it seemed to be the only sound in the whole area.
  • I shivered in terror as the wind suddenly picked up, and a howl could be heard in the distance. They've shown up. They moved in large groups, and the woodland floor was scraped by their hefty footfall. Many wolves filed into a line, following the lead wolf as he burst through the tree line, side by side. Two recognizable individuals walked past a few middle-aged people, which caused my wolf to twitch apprehensively in the back of my mind.
