Chapter 99 Procrastinated Departure
- Uncle Frederick never rushed through the process of irritating Paul before he said what he wanted to say. Initially startled by my presence, he soon shifted his attention entirely away from Paul and focused on me.
- “Is this brute not treating you well?” he inquired when he noticed my alleviated leg. “Running accident,” I cheerfully replied. We barely exchanged two sentences before Paul interjected, causing my uncle to turn around with a vexed expression.
- “Maidalet Island!” Uncle Frederick exclaimed. Paul escorted him to the sunroom, while Andrès remained behind. “Family feud?” he inquired, leisurely taking a bite to eat as his gaze remained fixed on me. “That’s just how they are,” I responded. “No, your uncle despises Paul,” Andrès chuckled, “I’ve seen that look enough times in my life to recognize it from a mile away.”
