- While I was in the shower, Uncle Frederick attempted to reach me several times. Paul intercepted one of his calls and soon veered the conversation toward our own affairs. Emerging from the bathroom, I discovered Paul on the balcony, engrossed in a smoke and a deep discussion with Uncle Frederick.
- He attempted to hand me the phone, but I declined, choosing to call him back and instructing Paul to inform him to check his satellite phone. Though Paul appeared puzzled by my request, he chose not to press the matter further.
- Seated on the couch, still clad in my towel, I dialled Uncle Frederick's number, the chill of the air conditioner seeping through me. As I reached for the remote, my towel slipped, and I found Paul standing nearby, arms folded, unwilling to offer assistance. Annoyance tinged my voice as I asked, “Do you mind?”
