Chapter 70 Jealous
- It was unsurprising that Paul left me behind when he departed for Sunfall that morning. He left instructions for Queenie to take special care of me. Queenie, a gentle soul, had a heart of gold — one of the qualities I admired most about her.
- She stood tall by the bedside, checking to see if I was awake. “So,” her voice resonated loudly. “Queenie,” I rasped out her name. “If you don’t look after yourself, how do you expect to fall pregnant again?” she scolded.
- With considerable effort, I lifted my head and focused my drowsy eyes on her, “Sounds like a perfect plan,” I teased. She slumped onto the bed. “You don’t mean that,” sadness tinged her voice. “Children are a blessing.” I understood her well-intentioned sentiment.
