• Matteo, Carlos, and his father left to go discuss some more business in private. That left just me and mother. As soon as the men were out of the room, she places MJ down on the couch then drops down to the floor where I still am and hugs me. She squeezes me so tight I feel like I can’t breathe. When she finally releases me, she pulls her body from mine and just stares at me. She mutters to me. “Thank you my dear. I know that was hard for you to do. I’m sorry that all of this fell on your shoulders. But you did the right thing. You not only stopped a war, but you also made my son realize that he could lose you if he doesn’t get his shit together.”
