• I didn't even hear Adam enter the room because my crying was so overwhelming, drowning out any sound, even that of a door opening and slamming against the wall.
• I felt the weight of his body on the mattress and suddenly he was embracing me, desperate to know what was happening to me and why it seemed like someone had died from my reaction.
• But I couldn't articulate a word, the crying wouldn't allow it and all I could do was let out wails, trying to form a sentence, but it was impossible.
