Chapter 27

• I looked at myself in the mirror. I tied my hair up in a loose bun that fell in curls over my shoulder. I opted for a pastel"colored dress that I bought at a store not too far from campus. The university was not far from the center of New York, which was convenient because whenever I needed something for an occasion, the stores were open in the morning."
• By my calculations, Max would come to pick me up at one in the afternoon, so I only had an hour left to get ready. If I managed to do it, I would set my own record. Between makeup, hair, and putting on my shoes, I finished on time.
• The pastel pink dress had thin straps, a delicate V"neckline, a gold belt that wrapped around my waist, and the bottom had very pretty ruffles. As soon as I saw it in the shop window, I fell madly in love with it."
