Chapter 9

• Amidst all the chaos in Victoria's life at that moment the only thing she asked Mara was to bury her poor mother before she could leave. She felt lost, she wasn't even sure if Christian was in cahoots with Mara, she thought maybe he was punishing her for disappearing for four years with his kids. She didn't know who to trust or who to turn to, she just knew she had to bury her mother and that forsaken place.
• Although Mara wanted to feed Helena's body to the dogs, she eventually agreed to realise the body after Christian coaxed and begged her to give back the body. He was not allowed to attend the funeral by Mara, but even Victoria prevented him from going. She wanted to cut all ties with this man, she has been hurt before but not like this.
• Everything just all happened at the same time , on the same day, loosing her mother, her husband and she was still not certain if her children would be spared, she was numb , she could take it all. Although she was allowed to bury her mother it was not even close to a dignified burial, there not even a tombstone and that was exactly what Mara wanted, her hatred for Helena was beyond her death, she wanted her to be buried like a dog. And to her this burial was justified because she didn't feed her to the dogs.
