Chapter 3 Devil
- The door closes with a click behind us and I turn to lock it. We head down the hallway and I take in the white walls that travel up, up, up. They always made me feel so small. When I first moved into the packhouse, I fell in love with the old-fashioned vintage 19th-century European feel it gave off. I felt like a fairy tale princess who found her family after years of being locked away. I laugh at the thought. Alpha Joshua is a little OCD so everything has a place and there’s a place for everything. I’ve spent years making sure there wasn’t so much as a speck of dirt. It keeps everything clean and organized so it works. I was brought back to Gabe and I as we made our way down the stairs.
- “I had an amazing night with this she-wolf Ady,” Gabe started.
- “Instead of sleeping? Even though you knew we had work at the butt crack of dawn?” I asked.
- “Yes Mom,” Gabe said sarcastically. “Anyway, back to the she-wolf—”
- “Did said she-wolf have a name? Did this one have a boyfriend too?” I asked. Gabe waved me off and I stifled my laugh.
- “You should have seen the tits on her. I had her in-” I cut him off for the second time before he could finish.
- “Please spare me the details Gabe! I do NOT want to hear where, how, or what positions you had her in. If I wanted sexual entertainment, I would watch werehub. I’ll take your word for it, not please, shut uuup,” I groaned.
- “I haven’t even told you the best part! You asked about her boyfriend,” Gabe pouted.
- “Fine. Why am I not surprised? Tell me ABOUT THE BOYFRIEND,” I said.
- “That’s the best part! He joined too,” Gabe moaned as he bit on his fist.
- “Ew Gabe,” I shivered.
- Gabe is one of my closest friends, one of my best friends if we’re being honest, but I swear on the Moon Goddess herself he is a manwhore. The biggest one if I’m still being honest. After every dirty sexcapade, he insists on telling me every detail like I care. Gabe swings an arm around my shoulder and his peppermint scent hits my nose as he leans in.
- “Come on Ady. If I don’t tell you who else can I share my… experiences with?” Gabe whines.
- I can image Felix, his wolf pouting and I have to stifle another laugh as the image of his floppy brown ears pop into my mind. Still, I will not be deterred. The last thing I want to do is hear my best friend going on and on about railing a she-wolf. I cover my ears and quicken my steps.
- “Oh, my virgin ears,” I sing.
- Gabe continues to pout when our feet hit the landing and I lead us toward the kitchen. He turns on the light and I drop my hands from my ears. No matter how tired I am at the start of the day or how exhausted I am at the end of it I feel accomplished knowing I am giving back to those that helped me when I had nothing. Without them I would have been a child rogue and most likely would have lost myself.
- Shortly after I recovered I started working at the packhouse for Half Moon. This is where the Alpha, the Beta, the Gamma and their spouses stayed. There are a handful of Deltas that stay here too, but the Alpha and his family are priority. I’ve been here ever since. The room lights up, it’s wide and spacious. Just like the hallway, the walls inside the kitchen and sitting area go up, up, up. The ceiling is tall and gives it an open feeling.
- There’s a long wooden table with black leather chairs. The kitchen sink and marble countertops on the right. Instead of pantries there are long wooden shelves on the walls. They hold the plates, bowls, and cups. I put on some music while Gabe brings out the ingredients for breakfast.
- We have an agreement, we both do breakfast, Gabe will cover lunch while I go to school. I’m supposed to do dinner, but Gabe always shows up and helps me. Music helps the time go by quicker. I enjoy my early routine with Gabe. We get a lot done when we work as a team. Mavy comes running in as we are setting the table. She wraps her arms around my waist.
- “Good morning Adea! Thanks for breakfast!”
- Her hands fall from my waist and she kisses me on the cheek before she take a seat. Gabe grumbles by my side and I fight the smile that wants to spread across my face. Gabe is a firm believer that if Mavy was really my friend she would help cook or help relieve me from my duties.
- “No problem Mavy. I made your favorite!” I sing.
- Mavy giggles as I grab her plate. You can’t help but love her. Mavy is Alpha Joshua’s daughter and my best friend. She has been by my side since the first day I remember waking up in Half Moon.
- “How did you sleep? When I got home last night I was so tired. I slept like a log!”
- Alpha Joshua and Luna Rose had twins. That’s really rare for werewolves, especially for an Alpha. Thankfully Mavy was born a girl so she didn’t have to worry about fighting for succession. Had she been born a boy, I wonder if their relationship would be as good as it is now. Although they looked alike, Mavy and Shane were polar opposites.
- Mavy resembled her father more and Shane looked more like his mom. Mavy’s eyes were gray like Alpha Joshua and Shane’s were a dark obsidian just like Luna Rose. Mavy was sweet and bubbly while Shane was quiet and broody. They both had black wavy hair, but Mavy’s was more loose beach curls while Shane’s was more tight.
- Speak of the devil and he shall show.
