Chapter 16

• Half an hour later, I'm leaving the building on my way home. I check the time and realize it's already past nine fifteen. I remember Pablo's offer, so I message him. He tells me he's already on the other side of the city but can pick me up in half an hour. I reply, telling him not to worry and that I'll take a taxi. I don't receive a response.
• I cross the street and wait for an available taxi to pass by. Fifteen minutes go by, and still nothing. Suddenly, a black car stops in front of me, and I take a step back, thinking someone might be getting out of the car. And indeed, it is. Ian Ikard steps out, unbuttoning his jacket.
• "Can I give you a ride home if you'd like?" he offers.
