- “What did you do? Why did my sister call me crying?” Hael growled as he entered, clearly ready for a confrontation.
- But as soon as Hael’s eyes landed on Kaemon, all the anger drained from his face. Kaemon was leaning against the wall, his chest rising and falling too quickly, his eyes wide with a frantic, lost look. His body was trembling, his hands clutching his shirt in a way that reminded Hael all too much of the times he’d found his own sister in a similar state—panic overtaking her, the world collapsing around her.
- “Kaemon!” Hael’s voice was sharp, but laced with concern as he stepped closer, abandoning the storm of accusations he had been ready to hurl. Kaemon didn’t respond. His hand was clutching his chest, his breathing uneven, bordering on hyperventilation.
