Chapter 3
- “Hey, Sienna? You got a parcel!” Sienna peeked through the door when Pearl, her roommate called out. Sienna shoved her laptop in her bag and shouted,
- “Be there in a second!”
- By the time She was out of the room, Pearl had sat down for breakfast at the modest table in the corner of their living and dining room by a window overlooking the quiet street.
- “How haven’t Lowe fired you yet? I have never seen you reach office in time. Like ever!” She grumbled as she bit down into her toast. Sienna hurriedly opened the package, her face bright with excitement but the content of the box made her blood boil,
- “Who do they even hire to ship these! Like seriously how hard is it to ship the fucking product someone orders!” She fumed as she took out a pair of black lace lingerie.
- “That’s cute and sexy.” Pearl pointed out as Sienna shoved the package into her bag and grabbed a toast.
- “True,” Sienna said with her mouth full of food, “But not the product I had ordered! I will be returning it and I will see it through how they can get away with sending in the wrong thing!” She grumbled, gulping down the toast and a glass of juice in record time.
- “Will I be seeing you this evening?” Sienna asked as she rushed to the front door.
- “I don’t think you will, I am staying over at Luther’s.” Pearl said sipping her coffee and she glanced back.
- “Well, have fun,” Sienna winked, making her friend giggle,
- “Hey listen!” She called out just as Sienna was about to get out. She stopped and turned around.
- “What?”
- “Can you promise that I won’t have to bail you out of the jail at the end of the day?” Pearl raised a brow looking all serious and Sienna only shrugged in response.
- “I didn’t kill him the last time I saw him.”
- “That’s because he hasn’t been in the office after the latest drama. And didn’t you say he will be in the office this week?” Sienna groaned as she silently prayed that Kaemon wasn’t in the office that week either.
- “I never said I would kill him. I only said I would smack him across the face and maybe a punch or two to his stomach.”
- Pearl shook her head and sighed, “You are impossible.”
- “Have a good pleasure trip and see you soon.” Sienna winked and got out of the house before Pearl could interrupt her and make her even more late than she already was.
- “I will get pizza for us when I return!” She shouted,
- “I will be forever grateful!” Sienna shouted back as she rushed out of the house.
- After moving to the US seven years ago, Sienna first met Pearl at a company they were working as part-timers. Their little conversation had turned into hours long blabbering, and they have been roommates for as long as she could remember living in the magical city of New York, key word magical. In her opinion, Pearl was the best companion she could have ever asked for. And to be completely honest, Sienna should really thank the heavens for sending someone like Pearl into her life. Like her name, Pearl really was one of a kind, an amazing human being and even better friend. Without her, Sienna might not have had survived in that foreign county for long. And you must be wondering what she has been doing the last five years?
- Well, she was freelancing and part-timing for various companies while earning a good salary and completing her masters. And one of the freelancing gigs took her to Lowe Printify and she ended up working full-time. Now she earns just a little over how much she used to earn through her part-timing and freelancing. The only thing keeping her in the job after all the other things is the stability working full time brings and also the perks like the insurance because she only knew how much she needed the health insurance! To be fair, which county in the whole wide world charges three thousand dollars for two stitches on the arm and an hour in the emergency room! That day, Sienna was thirty minuets late, but perhaps luck was in her favour for her manager was out of the office and she had the chance to quietly sneak in. They day started with their usual team meetings followed by virtual meetings with their remote workers and other offices.
- Sienna sat across the polished conference table, her patience wearing thin as the discussion unfolded. The room, adorned with sleek, modern decor, seemed almost too pristine for the clash of opinions taking place. The bespectacled woman screaming through the speakers of Sienna’s telephone, was insistent on having her way. Her demands echoed in the sterile air of the room, creating such situation that Sienna found increasingly difficult to bear.
- “There won’t be any issue regarding the design. And you can be in the production if you want to make sure the quality and printing are to your liking,” Sienna sighed heavily, the weight of frustration evident in the lines creasing her forehead. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes, opting instead to maintain a semblance of professionalism.
- “How do I know that there won’t be any issues with the design? You guys have fucked up once, you can fuck up twice!” The woman sounded like she would burst into flames any second now. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes, opting instead to maintain a semblance of professionalism.
- “Just as I have said before Ms. Celia, I will forward you the final design when it is ready. And like I have mentioned earlier, we can make necessary changes to accommodate your liking,” Sienna replied, her words measured but laced with a subtle hint of exasperation.
- “Hey, look who showed up,” Just as Sienna put down the phone, Della nudged her. They had just gotten off from a virtual meeting with one of their potential clients and as always, Sienna was working with another new client who happened to be an equal drama queen and an absolutely tempered diva. She was ready to greet the approaching person with her never fading smile and an over the top hug, but her mood turned even more sour when she saw the person she least wanted to see. Kaemon Mace.
