• Sienna felt almost normal again, the hum of her office providing a comforting backdrop as she typed away on her laptop. After everything that had happened, life was finally falling back into place. Her nightmares were less frequent, and she was getting back into the rhythm of work.
• A knock at the door broke her concentration, and she glanced up just in time to see Kaemon step inside. He was a familiar presence in her office by now, frequent enough that her colleagues had started to raise eyebrows. Sienna found herself spinning new excuses every time—each more ridiculous than the last—to explain why Kaemon Mace, of all people, kept showing up.
• “Hey,” she greeted him with a wide smile, a soft warmth filling her as he walked over and leaned down to give her a quick peck on the lips. His presence was grounding, making everything feel just a little bit better.
