• The night had been going smoothly, despite Bianca’s repeated interruptions. Sienna and Kaemon had managed to steal a few moments for themselves, laughing and mingling with guests, but eventually, Kaemon excused himself to handle something briefly, leaving Sienna near the bar. She watched him stride across the room, his easy confidence and sharp suit drawing a few admiring glances. Sienna smiled to herself, sipping her drink, fully trusting him.
• But then, like a bad omen, Bianca reappeared, her eyes fixated on Kaemon. Sienna's stomach twisted. She could see Bianca’s determination as she approached Kaemon, now that he was alone. This was her chance, the moment she’d been waiting for.
