Chapter 6
- His presence was overwhelming as he sat next to her, his arm brushing against hers. Sienna felt a surge of fear and anger, but she knew better than to start a fight with him. He was a giant compared to her, and he could easily toss her aside like a ragdoll. Not that she had any intention of physically attacking him, but she wanted to make him pay for what he did. He smiled at her, a smug and arrogant smile that made her want to punch him. He turned his attention to the computer screen, where a friendly-looking old man appeared.
- “Good morning, Mr Luther.” He said in a smooth and confident voice. “I am Kaemon Mace; I had spoken to your secretary earlier.”
- Here is one possible way to rewrite the scene in the same tone:
- “Good morning, Mr Mace.” Luther greeted Mace with a warm smile, looking like a perfect gentleman.
- “This is our Head of Sales Sienna Margot.” Mace introduced her, his voice dripping with fake sincerity. She felt her anger rise as she forced a smile and exchanged pleasantries with Luther.
- “Pleasure to meet you, Mr Luther.”
- “The pleasure is all mine.” Luther smiled back and Kaemon took over the conversation, ignoring her completely.
- “As you very well know, we specialize in high-quality merch production services for businesses of all sizes. We have a wide range of merch options, including t-shirts, hats, mugs, and more...”
- He went on and on, stealing her thunder and her client. He had done this before, and she hated him for it. He had contacted Luther's secretary behind her back and arranged this meeting. He was a sneaky and greedy bastard, and she wanted to stab him in the eye. She clenched her teeth and tried to calm down, but she couldn't help but think of ways to get back at him.
- I will not allow you to rob me again Kaemon.
- “That proposal sounds tempting. But why should I hand our bran deal to you?
- “Mr Luther…” Kaemon started speaking again but Sienna cut him off.
- “…we pride ourselves on our attention to detail and our commitment to customer satisfaction. We work closely with our clients to ensure that their merch needs are met, and we always go the extra mile to make sure that our clients are happy with the final product. Also, we work to promote and make sure the products can reach the potential consumer.” Take that Kaemon.
- Through the corner of her eyes, Sienna saw Kaemon grimace but she maintained a professional face.
- “Thank you for your Mr Luther. You will be hearing from our acquisition team soon and if the contract is to your liking then I will personally set up another meeting with my design team. And trust me when I say this, we have some brilliant people on our team.” Sienna finished with a big smile as Mr Luther chuckled.
- “I have no doubt that your team is as amazing as you are. I am excited to work with you.”
- “So are we,” Kaemon said as they bid farewell and ended the meeting. She sighed contentedly as she closed the laptop. She glanced at Kaemon to see if she had managed to annoy him, since she had taken over the meeting that was rightfully hers. But after stealing her thunder, he should feel a bit guilty, right? Then why did he look so calm and smug!
- I can’t believe this man!
- “Can I ask you about the launch date of Jenna’s merch?” Sienna asked as she turned to face him. Kameon glanced at her and dropped his belongings on the table before turning to face her. “Can you give me an update on when we can expect the product to be released?”
- “Unfortunately, we encountered some unforeseen problems during the releasing process, and we need a bit more time to get everything right. We’re aiming for a release date of next month.” He said as he leaned back to sit more comfortably on the chair.
- “Next month? That’s too long to wait. Do you have any idea how that will impact our sales? And what’s holding us back?” She asked in shock.
- “We’ve encountered some technical issues that we didn’t anticipate, and we’re working with our development team to resolve them as quickly as possible. We’re also doing some additional testing to make sure that the product meets our quality standards.” He gave her a long, roundabout and vague explanation that seemed like a clear attempt to avoid the issue. It was a clever business strategy that Sienna could have appreciated if they were not on the same side! She felt like telling him to shut the fuck up, but she decided to just sit back and listen to him ramble. In the end, the answer to her question reached to
- ‘We’re doing everything we can to get the product out as quickly as possible, but we don’t want to rush things and compromise on quality. We’re confident that we’ll be able to meet our release date of next month, and we’ll keep you updated on our progress.’ And so on. She sighed, tired of hearing him. The only thing that kept her awake was that he looked good doing all this nonsense.
- As Sienna had admitted before, she couldn’t deny the fact that he was attractive. That was a big reason why he got away with all his schemes. What else could anyone expect from single and very much available woman? Kaemon was a tall, dark, and dangerously handsome man with a smooth voice and a business degree. She hated him with a passion, but he was also very tempting. She knew she should despise him with every fibre of her being, but a part of her…a very agile part of her couldn’t help but fall for him. And that made her hate him even more. Sienna was reconsidering her plan of attacking him, because Kaemon was making things very difficult for her.
- While explaining his point, he had leaned forward in his chair, his forearms resting on his solid looking thighs as he stared down at Sienna.
- “I hope that answered all your questions.”
- “Thank you, I have all the answers I needed.” Sienna gathered up her things and stood up before making her way out of the conference room. That bastard.
- Sienna had barely stepped out of the conference room and closed the door behind her when Della spoke up. “How did you not punch him in the face there?” Della asked, incredulous. “You looked like you would sink your teeth in his neck and suck out his blood, slowly torturing him to death.”
- Sienna groaned as she walked towards her office. “Trust me, I was this close to doing so.”
- “Judging from your face alone, I am shocked you didn't.” Della shook her head and laughed as she followed Sienna to her office door. “We girls are hitting the bar later. Fancy joining us?”
- Sienna smirked and looked at her. “You ask as though you would take a no for an answer.”
- Della grinned and winked. “You know you have to say yes. See you later.”
