Chapter 56

  • Sienna was in the apartment in Belgium, the one she used to share with Henri. The walls were closing in, the dim light flickering like a dying flame. Henri’s voice echoed through the space, cold and biting, the same cruel words that had once torn at her self-worth.
  • “You’re worthless, Sienna. Who do you think you are?”
  • Her legs wouldn’t move, her body frozen in place as Henri approached, his eyes wild with rage. She flinched as his hand came down hard on the table beside her, rattling the dishes. He didn’t have to hit her—his presence alone was suffocating, a force she couldn’t escape. But then, his fingers closed around her wrist, tight and unrelenting, and she felt the familiar burn of his grip digging into her skin.
