Chapter 73

• The next morning in the pack house, beta Sophia was still sleeping in her room when she suddenly heard a knock on her room door. She groggily opened her eyes and tried to focus on the clock by her bed. It was 11:20 AM, and she could hear the faint sounds of the pack starting their day outside. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, feeling the cool morning air on her bare skin. In her half-asleep state, she had forgotten to put on her usual pyjama pants and bra. She quickly looked down and realised she was wearing only a short sleeping gown, her nipples standing erect in the chill of the morning.
• The knocking continued, and she groaned as she tried to push the sleep from her brain. With a sigh, she swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up, shivering slightly in the cool air. She winced as she put weight on her injured fingers, which she had wrapped with a small towel last night. The pain was still sharp, and she cursed under her breath as she made her way to the door.
• Finally, she reached the door and pulled it open, fully expecting to see one of the maids standing there with an early morning request. But to her surprise, it was Alpha Dimitri who stood on the other side. His eyes lingered on her nipples for a moment before flicking up to meet her own. She felt a flush of mesmerised rising in her cheeks as she realised her state of undress.
