Chapter 48
- The dim light of the torches flickered along the mansion’s corridors as I made my way back toward the old library. My heart still pounded in my chest, and the weight of everything I’d uncovered pressed heavily on my mind. The thought of that shadowy figure rifling through the shelves, clearly searching for something, lingered in my mind.
- Just as I rounded the corner, I spotted him again, rummaging through the books as if he owned the place. My breath caught in my throat, but I steeled myself and stepped forward.
