• I didn’t dare to let out the breath I was holding, as I waited for Alaric to dealt the punishing blow. To my shock, he extended a hand instead and helped me to my feet.
• His expression was soft as he said. “I am sorry, she has no authority here, nor did she have any right to come here and harm you.’’
• I looked up at him still in shock, not sure what to say. “I am sorry, master Alaric. You sister is right, I should know my place, which is nothing but a lowly human servant. I deserve whatever punishment you see fit.’’
