Chapter 27

I walked through the mansion’s gardens, the sun warming my skin as I moved through the paths lined with flowers. My new clothes made me feel almost like back then, before all this mess started. Alaric had filled my wardrobe with crop tops, ripped jeans, fancy dresses, and all kinds of shoes I’d only ever dreamed of. Today, I wore a pair of high-waisted jeans and a soft, sleeveless top that made me feel a bit more confident. As I wandered, I could almost pretend I was just a regular girl once again, enjoying a peaceful day at the mall with my friends.
I strolled near the mansion's edge, where the guards were stationed. One of them eyed me, his gaze sharp and filled with something that made me uneasy. I tried to ignore him, focusing on the clear sky and the birds chirping nearby. However, he didn’t seem to have the same plan.
"Servant girl, what the hell do you think you're doing?" he barked, stepping directly into my path.
