Chapter 2
- The next day, It was already four in the afternoon and seated on her bed. Denver's shadow was nowhere to be seen. Was he still asleep? Camila was a bit puzzled. She really couldn't imagine that godly creature being such as a sleeping log. Or, she thought he might be really exhausted or maybe busy with work.
- She looked around and realized there was a portable guitar by the side corner of her room. She stood and walked towards it. Her fingers were slightly caressing the piano's key when she felt a gaze at her. She turned around and there he was. Alpha Denver was standing by the already opened door, leaning there.
- "Interested in guitar? Huh?" He asked and Camila gaped at him for a moment as he approached her.
- "I… I love it." She replied.
- "I want to see you play it to my hearing."
- "I will love to but..."
- "But What?"
- "Shouldn't we talk about the agreement you had with my father concerning my freedom?" Her statement made Denver see no hint of fear in her.
- "Oh, gusty you." He laughed as he bent and touched her cheek.
- "I think I should train you about patience. The great Alpha isn't in a hurry to do anything."
- Camila subconsciously gulped because of the way he looked at her. He just seemed like he was thinking about something beyond her imagination.
- "No, it's not that I am impatient, I just think that… that should be the first thing we talk about. I want to know everything about my freedom and also know what to do to make it happen." She explained, looking as serious as ever.
- Denver found her way of thinking quite amusing.
- "I don't trust anyone's word. As the king, you should make a public law and we both should sign an agreement." She said, "Maybe a contract… we can be a signatory. In that way, I'll be sure of my freedom."
- "There is no need to sign a contract, Camila. Who dares to question the king?"
- "I know what a wicked king like you could do…" she spoke with so much guts.
- "So brave…" He said as a devilish smirk left his lips and then, he tilted his face and his dark grey eyes downward to look at her.
- "Showing some little fear for your king would do you good." He stated and Camila held her breath in anticipation. "First, no one goes against my rules.
- "You will be home before or during twilight. Any later than that, you will be punished. Understood?"
- Camila blinked. She didn't expect that this was actually going to be a rule. What about the days she would want to visit her grandmother?
- She subconsciously nodded. "But my curfew is pretty early." She trailed off but Denver just looked at her with eyes silently saying the word 'You dare not disobey.'
- "Second, while you are in this house, you will listen to no one but me. Only do what i ask you to do. Do you understand?" Camila nodded again. "And last, but not the least "You belong to me. I won't ask or demand for your love. Got it?" She nodded again and swallowed her saliva.
- "If you abide by those three rules, then we will be fine, Camila..." He trailed off as he cupped her face. A glorious, chilling hue popped against his long dark lashes as he stared at her.
- "If not... If not, you already know what will happen right? Denver's expression changed again. Now looking intimidatingly into her eyes.
- But Camila stood to her ground and stared back into his cold, icy eyes.
- "Yes."
- "Good girl." He smiled seemingly amused.
- "Is that all?" Camila meekly asked and then he answered. "Yes." Camila was relieved but somehow, a little doubtful because his expression didn't show he was being sincere.
- Noticing the disbelief in her eyes, that crooked and playful smile curved on his face.
- "But I do have some questions."
- "Ask."
- "Umm, what are the things I should do during my stay here? You said I should only do the things you want me to do... But what are those?"
- "Good question. Come here, Camila." Denver was already sitting gracefully on a chair beside the guitar as he spoke.
- Camila pressed her lips tight as she slowly moved closer to him and once she stood beside him, Denver turned her around so that she was now facing away from him, placed his hands on Camila's waist and pulled her towards him, making her sit on his laps.
- "Of course, you will fulfill your duties as my mate" He whispered and his warmth breath caressed the crook of her neck along with that languid, enchanting voice by her ear, leaving Camila dumbstruck.
- "Be specific… " She said.
- "Shhh, don't worry about that, Camila. I have already put a plan together on how you can be loyal to me." He said and she nodded.
- "Okay."
- "This is if... You can be patient enough to handle…"
- She couldn't see his face but she knew he was wearing that dangerous smile of his again.
- "Well, we shall see about that, any question?" He asked.
- She tried to look at his face but he didn't let her. "Don't move, just speak."
- He ordered as he felt her shimmy. Denver was like both winter and summer, like ice and fire. He switched from both without any warning. This minute, he is calm and pretend to be nice and in the next second, he is that person anyone would regret meeting.
- At that moment, he was simply cold. His voice, his eyes, his smile and chuckle. Everything about him was breathtakingly beautiful but he was just... Just too cold.
- Despite that, Camila didn't want to let herself get frozen to death by him. She had to deal with him, learn how to handle him and get used to him or else, things will always go the way she never wanted it to go. She would try her best to love this cold, ice king but she would do it her way. She didn't want to just get swept away into the dark ocean without a paddle in her hands.
- "Can I ask for a request?" She said and she felt him become still under her.
- When he finally moved, he turned her around to make her face him. He gazed up at her with his probing and playful eyes while a smile played at the corner of his lips.
- "It depends on what your request is. And… Camila… you want money?" He asked and she shook her head, signifying a "no."
- "I can give you money but if your request is far from money, you will work hard for it."
- Camila, hearing his statement, was speechless but then, she broke the silence with stuttering words.
- I… I don't have any request." She said.
