Chapter 14

• Camila's eyes flickered open, and she winced as she tried to sit up in bed. The pain from the flogging from Alpha Denver was still fresh and it was a struggle to get out of bed. Her personal servant Emily was already by her side, gently helping her to her feet and holding her upright as she walked to the bathroom.
• Camila grimaced as she looked in the mirror, the bruises on her back still visible, but she tried to put on a brave face for the day ahead. With Emily's help, she dressed in a simple but elegant gown and slowly made her way to the dining table where Alpha Denver and his wives and his twin brother, Alpha Xavier, and other Alpha's, more like their relations, were already seated.
• As she entered the room, she couldn't help but feel as though everyone was staring at her. Trying her best to ignore the stares, she made her way to her seat next to Denver. Emily pulled out her chair, and Camila lowered herself into it carefully, trying to keep her face from showing any sign of discomfort, although Xavier, who was smart enough, observed her as she walked and noticed her discomfort.
