Chapter 86 Quarrel With Maren

• I am finally healthy enough to get out of bed. Most of my wounds are not painful now. All I need to do is to use some creams every day to reduce the ugly scars. When I finally have the chance to have lunch in the dining room, I see Maren talking to Sally. I have not seen Maren for a very long time and I almost forget her name. I go to greet Maren and Sally. “Maren, Sally, how are you? Long time no see.” Sally glances at me coldly and says nothing, while Maren looks up at me and answers coldly, “Fine.” I am really confused. Sally is cold but I do not care because she saved me last time. She is cold may be because of her character but why does Maren treat me this way? I have not blamed her for not visiting me when I was sick in bed. She must know that I was seriously injured but she has not visited me once.
• I do not want to make this more embarrassing so I sit beside Maren and try to raise a topic, “Are you getting along well with your master?” I remember that the last time I saw her she was angry with her master. “ Getting along well? How can you use these words on me and my master? Do you know the identity of you and me? We are only slaves!” I am surprised. I open my mouth and say nothing before she continues yelling at me, “ Oh, I forgot. How can you know what respect is? Your master even respects you!” I am more confused. “ Maren, I thought we were friends. Why are you talking to me like this?” I do not think Maren likes Cody since she fell in love with her master last time I saw her. So I can not find a reason why she hates me so much.
• “ Friend? Who dares to be your friend?” Maren smiles ironically. These words... I suddenly think of something. “Did Betty say anything to you?” Maren gets angry immediately. “Betty? How dare you mention Betty? She was friendly to you and helped you when you were in danger. When your master treated you badly, Betty and I comforted you. But when your master treats you well, you totally forget both of us! Just because Betty likes your master, you even wanted to kill her! She is still sick in bed!”
