Chapter 84 Why Hurt Me?

• I lean against Cody’s chest and completely lose my balance. I look up at Cody and says, “ Do not be angry. Cody, I do not want you to hurt anyone for me.” Cozy frowns and growls at me, “ You scramble for a stranger?” I am about to say yes when I suddenly remember what Lily said to Cody to calm him down. I show resourcefulness in an emergency. “ No, I scrambled for you. You are my master and the future alpha. I do not want others to blame you for your cruelty and bad temper.” Cody’s eyes change when he hears my words. He thinks for a while and growl, “Ann, you can leave now.”
• Then he picks me up in his arms and sits back onto the bed. Till now do I notice that he is actually bleeding. I gasp and say, “ Cody, you are bleeding. Your back, your shirt, is red.” Cody stares at me calmly. “I should not have left the bed and used strength.” “Then why did you leave the bed?” I am confused. Cody purses his lips and look aside unnaturally. “I can not stand looking at you scrambling on the ground.” My eyes go wet immediately. I turn to Kara and ask her to get the doctors. Kara glances at Cody and leaves.
• I lean against the headboard with Cody together. I can barely move because of the intense pain. I feel that my tears are falling down my face and soaking his shirt. Cody looks down at me and says a little impatiently, “Are you crying because of the pain?” I shake my head. “No. I cry because you are in pain.” Cody is stunned at first, but soon, Cody smiles and caresses my head. “I am OK. But you should not ever do that again.” Cody gazes at me softly and soothingly rub my back. I nod. “How did you stand up from the bed, walk towards me and lift me up? You must be very painful.” Cody rolls his eyes at me and says in a stern voice, “Then how did you jump out of the bed and scramble on the ground with wounds all over your body?” I know this is not the right time but I laugh. Cozy glances at me and laughs with me.
