Chapter 117 Change Clothes For You
- I close my eyes in pain when Cody flips me over and picks me up off of our dryer. My cheeks are wet because of my tears of pain. I close my eyes to avoid looking at Cody’s face. “ Emelia... Why did you do that? Why did you come to him? Emelia!” Cody growls loudly as he hugs me to him. I open my eyes and see the look of horror in his eyes. He is worried about me. I close my eyes in tiredness and I hear Alger stand up to approach me. He seems to be worried about me too, but Cody orders him to leave. I open my eyes and see Alger’s back. There are only Cody and me now. I turn back to Cody and see the look of pain, regret, and guilt in his eyes.
- I frown. It is too painful. It has not been so painful for such a long time. He puts his hands under my legs and holds me up in a bridal style. I put all my weight on his arms in relief. At this moment, I rely on him. He holds me to his bed and sits beside me. “ Emelia, I...” I open my eyes wearily. Maybe he wants to apologize to me, but he is too embarrassed to do so. After a while, Cody starts to gently rub my back, trying to ease my pain. “I, I am sorry... I did not mean to hurt you. I...” I must admit the pain slowly as he talks to me and rubs me gently. I sigh and answer in a hoarse voice, “ It is OK. Compared to the torture you did to me, this is acceptable because it is only one strike.”
- As I expected, Cody feels more guilty after hearing my words. “ I am sorry...” I want to say that repeating sorry is useless, but I know this will only irritate him, so I simply say nothing. After a while of silence, I look Cody in the eye and say, “The pain is almost gone.” I say it in tears and look at Cody painfully. I am lying because I want him to feel guilty so that he may forget the reason for this fight and let it go. “You are lying,” Cody says. I smile bitterly. “ I don’t want you to worry about me so much.” Cody hit his lap and says guilty, “ You are such a good girl. How could I beat you that way? Although I didn’t mean it, it was my fault.”
