Chapter 42

• Asher stirred awake slowly, and he reached across the bed to hold Lily but instead was met with the cold bed instead. His brows furrowed together and he reached out even more, thinking she might have shifted out of his reach, but she was nowhere around and he immediately snapped his eyes open.
• Truly, she wasn't anywhere in the room. It even felt like she hadn't been in the room at all. Panic immediately coursed through him as his mind conjured up the worst scenarios possible and he instantly sprang up from the bed.
• "Lily..." He called out, practically running out of the room as he went in search of her, but there was no response, adding to his fear. He checked the room opposite his, checked the bathroom, the kitchen, and there was no sign of Lily.
