Chapter 166 The Offer of a Second Marriage
- Murdough wasn’t particularly chilly in November. The leftover excitement from the day was keeping me awake at night, so I pulled on a cardigan and made my way up to the rooftop of the hotel to take in the dazzling night view. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the unexpected presence of another person and I was even more surprised to see that it was Caleb.
- “I saw you earlier during the summit, Shelly, but you looked like you were busy listening to something alongside your boss, so I didn’t go over to greet you.” The colorful fairy lights that were strung all over the rooftop cast a warm glow over Caleb, who looked handsome in his khaki coat. He spoke to me with a gentle lilt and his voice was crisp and clear. However, he lacked the masculine and insouciant grace with which Roy carried himself, the one which I found to be exasperating and endearing at the same time.
- “I didn’t think you’d be here to check out the night view as well, Caleb,” I answered politely. We continued with the somewhat strained small talk for a while before falling into utter silence. At that moment, I was suddenly reminded of the fact that his wedding was in another month’s time and the thought of that led to the memory of how Alice had looked at me the other day outside the elevator. Not wanting to solicit unwanted trouble, I tried to come up with an excuse to leave.
