Chapter 213 Not Meant to Be

• Damian had mentioned that the trip to Singapore was an urgent one, so it wouldn’t be sensible for me to bring Austin along. As such, I left him in Poppy’s care. She was five months into her pregnancy, and Austin loved caressing her baby bump while claiming that the baby was to become his wife one day. Having agreed to my sudden request, Poppy told me that she would take good care of Austin and told me not to worry about him incessantly.
• Presently, I was just about to board the flight when I decidedly gave Anthony a call. “Anthony, I’ll be going to Singapore on an emergency business trip. Damian called earlier, and I know it’s entirely last minute, but I think something might be going on with the factory over there.” I listened to what Anthony had to say, then hummed in response before adding, “I’ll take good care of myself, and you’ll have to look after Austin for a bit until I get back. Don’t worry about me. This isn’t my first time taking a flight abroad.”
• When I hung up and boarded the plane, I settled into my seat by the window. The plane took off, and soon my mind was far away as I stared out at the wisps of clouds drifting past. Anthony had to go back to Elmsbury the day before, which happened to be the same day when the three-year agreement came to an end. Just when I thought I would get to see him today, Damian had called and asked that I get on a flight to Singapore.
