Since I was already cutting to the chase, Anthony sipped some coffee and put the cup down before answering, “I’m sandwiched between you and Lena, so I didn’t attend the trial, but I watched the recording, and I need to apologize for her behavior. I never expected her to hire a killer to hunt you down.”
- “Don’t apologize, Anthony. It’s between me and her. You have nothing to do with this.” I forced a smile. “Um… You might have focused too much on your work and neglected her. She wouldn’t have turned out this way if you cared about her.”
- He arched his eyebrow and snorted. “I have no reason to treat a treacherous woman like her nicely. She’s a greedy wench, so even if I gave her everything, she still wouldn’t be satisfied.”
