Chapter 136 Someone Came Over Last Night
- James held his glass up to me. “I didn’t expect you to be such a decisive and resolute woman, Shelly. I’ll use this water as a replacement for alcohol for now. Cheers to our partnership!” I lifted my drink to clink glasses with James.
- That afternoon, I silently let out a sigh of relief after I stepped out of James’s office. Although our partnership wasn’t official yet, I felt a sense of security just knowing about it. I decided not to tell the other four about the good news, for I wanted to train their determination and their resilience; I wanted them to continue fighting to get more clients. When I got back to the office, I found out that Neil had left town for a business trip. After some contemplation, I decided to go to another one of our company’s branches—the headquarters for Woodland. I didn’t go directly to the boss, of course; I went to look for the she-devil instead. “Do you have some time to talk, Lori?”
- Lori raised an eyebrow and glanced at me before she lowered her pen and crossed her arms around her chest. She looked more boss-like than my actual boss as she responded to me with her chin sticking up in the air. “If my memory serves me right, you should be leading your teammates out and around to work on our company’s sales, Miss Sutton.”
