Chapter 7 Foolishness

  • The man’s subordinate obliged, and he smashed every destructible item in the house, including the TV, the fridge, the cabinet, and everything else made out of glass. Ben and Lilian tried their best to stop him, but to no avail. A few minutes later, the house was in ruins, as if it was shaken by an earthquake.
  • Lilian was howling among the rubble, while Ben was shivering in fear. The man was about to take me away, and that was when I whispered, “H-He took my nudes. It’s in his phone.”
  • The man frowned, and Ben reflexively held his pocket, moving back as fast as possible. However, Steven still went up to him and flipped him over with a shoulder throw. Ben howled in pain, then the phone fell out of his pocket. Immediately, Steven picked the phone up and handed it to the man, who stuffed the phone in his pocket. I heaved a sigh of relief, seeing as the biggest threat was removed.
  • The man took me downstairs and placed me in his car’s backseat. A moment later, Steven drove me away from this place of nightmares.
  • As I gradually regained control of my body, I slowly adjusted my position, and I thanked the man. “Thank you for saving me yet again. May I know your name, sir?”
  • “McGowan. Roy McGowan,” the man answered.
  • “Thank you, Mr. McGowan. I shudder to think what might happen to me if not because of you.”
  • Roy shot me a look of disdain. “I can’t believe you fell for the same trick twice. You’re dumb.”
  • My face turned scarlet, but I knew he was right. If it weren’t because of my foolishness, I wouldn’t have fallen for the same trick twice. I bit my lip and whispered, “T-Thank you once again, Mr. McGowan.”
  • “Insincere. Is that all you can do after someone has saved you twice?”
  • “B-But I am sincerely thanking you.” I was trying to explain myself, and I was almost swearing that I was not lying.
  • “If that’s true, why did you run away then?” he asked coolly.
  • Oh crap. My face turned redder from the embarrassment. “I’m really sorry about that.” I did run away from him, but it was because I didn’t know how I should face him. I never thought I’d see him again, but it seemed that the world was a small place. In the end, I ran into him again, and once more, he saved me. “Why did you come back, Mr. McGowan?” I asked.
  • “To take back what’s mine.” He looked at me as he spoke.
  • I looked down in confusion, then I realized the shirt wasn’t fully buttoned, revealing the black bra inside, as well as the hickeys on my neck. Hurriedly, I turned around in embarrassment and buttoned up my clothes. “What are you looking for, Mr. McGowan?”
  • He arched an eyebrow. “A shirt.”
  • Oh, I recall wearing a shirt back in the hotel, but I wonder why he cared so much about one shirt. He was a rich man who had a luxury car and a bodyguard who also worked as his driver after all. “Sorry for that. My clothes were torn, so I had to wear your shirt. Give me an address. I’ll send it right back once I clean it.”
  • “No. I’ll take it right away,” he said coldly.
  • Roy seemed to treasure the shirt a lot, so I quickly told him my address, and Steven drove us right to my home. After we reached, Roy waited for me downstairs, while I darted to my home, but I gasped when I saw where the shirt was.
  • My mother was restless after she was discharged, so she did some laundry. Since the shirt I wore was tainted, she tossed it in the basin. Left with no choice, I went back down with a wet shirt. As expected, Roy’s face fell when he saw his shirt. “Why did you wash it?”
