Chapter 22 The Death of a Spouse
- No way. He’s not going to do something as immoral as that, is he? Nancy’s words popped up in my mind all of a sudden. “If I were you, I would much rather remain in a nasty family like the Tysons than getting myself involved with the McGowans. I wouldn’t want to provoke Roy’s fiancée’s family, the Spencers, either,” she once said. I didn’t want to provoke the McGowans, but I was more afraid of Spencers at that moment. The yacht had already traveled a distance away from the shore at that point, and I felt like a sailor who couldn’t find her way back home.
- “You have to think twice about what you just said, Young Master Spencer! Roy would be furious if you slept with me, and he would be less likely to agree to the marriage with your sister then!” I hastily tried to evoke some logical thinking in the man’s mind.
- “I don’t care. One way or another, I just can’t have you disrupting our plans!” Right after he finished his sentence, he lunged forward at me. I was shocked at how obstinate he was. He’s a tall, burly man, yet he’s acting like a young boy who’s throwing a tantrum because he didn’t get any candy.
