- What were they expecting when they came to rob me in my territory? That I would be easy prey, that I would just sit and beg them or watch them take my territory, that I would grovel at the feet of a superior authority.
- They seemed not to understand who I was. They seemed not to see that I was past that level. Any misstep on their path could lead to an entire thing worse than what I had given them on the first trial.
