Chapter 20 Whispers In The Moonlight

  • “The pack members were talking.” Anyone of them could have been spreading the ghastly rumors about me. The conversations they had around the fire might be how much of a coward I was, while the kid’s laughter could be directed at me. Anger and hatred rose in my heart as I continued to walk through the abode. Every laughter seemed to be directed at me, every whisper seemed to be about me. I hated them, their self-righteous whispers, and their judgmental laughter. Soon, I was going to show them and remind them, who their Alpha was, and what he was capable of. The further I walked down the camp, the louder the laughter and whispers got. I could almost swear they were laughing right in my face. Luckily, I reached Samantha’s tent before I gave in to my urge to rip them apart. Samantha and I went way back, and I never doubted her loyalty. She would follow me right into the depths of hell if I asked her. She was a fierce and loyal soldier, and if I’d executed Jason for treason, she would have been my beta. I wanted her to be my beta. I’m sure in the near future it will happen. Jason’s self-righteousness and arrogance would soon cause him to do something foolish, giving me the perfect excuse to break his neck like a twig. “If you think I am an easy target because I’m wounded, think again. I would break you into pieces,” Samantha’s threatening voice resounded around the tent the moment I stepped in.
  • “Relax, soldier,” I smiled, amused, “it’s me.”
  • “Dominic,” she smiled, and struggled to stand up to receive me, but I stopped her.
