• As soon as the life was sucked out of Lucian’s father, the dark power left Serena, and she slumped to the floor, caught up in a fit of sobs. My heart broke as I fell to my knees next to her. I held her in my arms as we cried together, grieving everything we had lost.
• “We were both victims of his games, Lucian,” she said as she looked up at me, placing her hands on my chest. “But he’s gone now. He’s gone now, and we need to remember we have another war to fight. We must not let the rogues wake the Shadowfell Alpha.”
