Chapter 41 Someone Watching Her (Forty One)
- Riley sat on the edge of the bed facing the mirror. She combed her hair that was matted from running around Wren's father's house with a handful of flour. It was ridiculous and childish. But when was the last time she did that? When did she feel so free to let out an expression and laugh loudly like no weight was hanging on her shoulders?
- It felt like she hadn't done that in a long time. Have fun, laugh, forget all the sadness and worries that always eat away at her heart. Wren had returned her happiness. She was so grateful that she had Wren as the only man who could help her out of all this trouble. She already thought of Wren like her own brother. How nice it would be if she had several siblings and not be an only child. Unfortunately, her mother only gave birth to one baby, her, and her mother never got pregnant again since giving birth to her because her mother didn't like her body shape to become stretchy after giving birth.
- Riley smiled at her own reflection in the mirror. Her first smile after bitter days. At first, she thought it would last forever. The fear, the terror that gripped her and all the nightmares she had after that night. But, human life is not the same every day. Things had changed which she never thought would happen. Sometimes she thought that she would forever be stuck with Logan, haunted by nightmares, seeing a lot of blood and people being brutally murdered. She had imagined it hundreds of times in her mind and she didn't realize that she had the possibility to get a better life through the help of others. The things she thought were impossible turned out to never be really impossible as long as she didn't give up hope.
