Chapter 22 Never Trust Logan (Twenty Two)

  • Riley didn't make any sound on the way to Logan's party. She sat pressed against the door, keeping her distance from Logan, who was also sitting quietly in his place on the left. There wasn't any conversation between them, as if that was the best thing they should be doing right now. Riley felt she couldn't say anything to Logan as long as the man, Alan, was driving ahead. The corner of Alan's eye seemed to notice her, who was turning his face towards the window. She purposely didn't make any contact with anyone, so she could calm herself from all sorts of vigilance that was starting to poison her brain.
  • When the car stopped at the Lower Broadway intersection as a group of pedestrians crossed the street, Riley rolled her eyes at Logan. He didn't do anything. His gaze was locked forward, his jaw clenched tightly, as if he was bored watching a group of tourists crossing the road while occasionally taking photos of whatever objects they found interesting. Riley felt that Logan didn't have any suspicions about Alan at all. His demeanor was quite normal for a man who was always surrounded by threats.
  • So was I just hallucinating last night? Riley frowned faintly, not wanting her vigilance to be known by Logan or Alan.
